!st actual Chemo session Tuesday 13th August

O.K Just had 1st session (docetaxel and cyclophosphamide)

Arrived 9.00 because I'm having Herceptin on Thursday they needed and Echo cardio gram and an ECG so they did that 1st.

Then into Chemo room for treatment - Lovely room offered tea or coffee- very relaxed.

Before they put on cold cap they sprayed my hair with water and put on conditioner, the cap goes on 30 mins before the chemo, the gloves 15min before. Cap was quite uncomfortable for 1st 20 mins but then I almost forgot it was there so persevere with it, it's no so bad. The gloves on hands and feet were a different story - I couldn't manage them for more than 10 mins at 1st, then I just kept taking them off an putting them on for 15 mins at at a time, I don't know if it'll make a difference but you don't know till you try.

The nurse put the canular in and off we went. Found it hard to turn pages of my book with gloves on so I watched t.v, I may try an audio book next time.

They brought me a sandwich and some soup and a yoghurt at about 12.00 which was lovely. The whole thing was over by 1.30, it'll probably be shorter next time I hope.

Overall it was better than I expected. My husband came with me but went off to Sainsburys for an hour, he also used his lap top for work when he eventually got a signal, he probably won't come every time now I know what to expect.

It's now 6.00pm and I feel fine. So far so good.

There's a district nurse coming to the house to give me an injecion to boost my white blood cells tomorrow.
